The Public Health Agency of Canada says 61 cases of salmonella across the country, including 17 requiring hospitalization, have been linked to recalled mini pastries.

Thirty-three of the 61 cases of illness were recorded in Quebec, 21 in Ontario, four in British Columbia, two in Alberta and one in New Brunswick.
“People became ill from late September 2024 to mid-December 2024,” the public health agency wrote in a statement on Sunday.
“Many sick people have reported eating mini pastries at catered events or other establishments where the recalled product was served,” it said.
The people who fell ill were aged between 3 and 88, the agency said, adding that 61% of them were women.
An advisory issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the recall affects four-kilo boxes of Sweet Cream mini pastries and one-kilo trays with an expiration date between June 17, 2025 and June 15. November 2025 inclusive.

The warning follows another egg recall linked to salmonellosis, also issued this weekend. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recalled certain brands of eggs in British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and elsewhere due to possible salmonella contamination.
In this case, the recall was triggered by test results and no cases of illness were reported, the agency said Saturday.
The egg recall includes Compliments, Foremost, Golden Valley Eggs, IGA, No Name and Western Family Eggs with best before dates of February 16, February 22 and March 1.
