Renée Zellweger spoke about the period when she turned her back on acting.
The 55-year-old American star will reprise her role as Bridget Jones in a new film this year, and will reunite with Hugh Grant in the role of Daniel Cleaver.

In the latest issue of Vogue British, Renée Zellweger is interviewed by her co-star who asks her why she withdrew from Hollywood from 2010 to 2016.
The two-time Oscar winner replied: ‘Because I needed it […]. I was tired of the sound of my own voice. When I was working, I said to myself: “Oh, my God, listen to yourself. Are you still sad, Renée? Oh, is that your crazy voice?”… It was a regurgitation of the same emotional experiences.”
Asked what she did during her leave, Renée Zellweger explained that she didn’t sit back and do nothing.
-She listed an impressive list of accomplishments: “I wrote music and studied international law. I built a house, I rescued two old dogs, I created a partnership that led to a production company, I advocated for and raised money for a sick friend, I spent a lot of time time with my family and my godchildren, and I drove across the country with my dogs. I got my health back.”

Renée Zellweger first played Bridget Jones in the 2001 film Bridget Jones’s Diary and reprized the role in Bridget Jones: The Age of Reason in 2004.
A third film followed with Bridget Jones’s Baby in 2016 – and a fourth is due to hit cinema screens next month with Bridget Jones : Very lazy scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day 2025.
