A 92-year-old man died following a collision on Highway 55 in Trois-Rivières in Mauricie, involving a minivan and a truck pulling a trailer.

The accident occurred around 1:20 p.m. at km 183. According to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the individual driving the minivan, who had first stopped on the right side of the road, then made a U-turn on the highway, running into traffic.

The driver of the truck pulling a trailer attempted to avoid the collision, but was unsuccessful.

According to the SQ, the minivan ended up in the center of the highway while the truck finished its journey in the central reservation.

The driver of the truck did not suffer serious injuries.

This accident led to the closure of several traffic lanes to allow investigators to analyze the scene.
