The Renault Trucks factory in Blainville-sur-Orne is a gigantic site of nearly 75 hectares in which thermal and gas and more recently electric trucks are assembled.
Since the takeover of the manufacturer in 2001 by Volvo, the establishment has produced for both brands.
Our reporting team takes you behind the scenes of this factory.
Inside, you must wear safety shoes, protective glasses and follow the marked path on the ground, a guarantee of your safety.
Mickael Tirel, sheet metal installation manager, explains the assembly of the sub-base to us. Here it is the robots which carry out the welds and move the elements to position them in the right place.
Next door, other robots assemble a cabin in four minutes flat.
In total, the factory employs 150 robots.
A little further on, we witness the installation of a dashboard inside a cabin, this time installed by employees, under the direction of Valérie Boudin, upholstery team leader.
Finally, Jean-Michel Tristan, independent production team manager, shows us the installation of the shield, at the front of the cabin.
The truck is almost finished.
In Blainville-sur-Orne, a vehicle leaves the factory every five minutes.
