In Sablé-sur-Sarthe, Métal Services is expanding and launching new activities

In Sablé-sur-Sarthe, Métal Services celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023. Among the projects was an extension. It is now done. At the beginning of January 2025, a 632 m2 building was added to the company’s workshops on rue Saint-Blaise. An investment of nearly €800,000.

A new building and new activities

Work began in February and was completed in November. The new building was designed to be able to install photovoltaic panels. A planned electricity production of 100 kmwc which will be used by the company. “The surplus will be resold and reinjected into the network,” explains Thierry Petitbon, head of Métal Services.

The new building houses new services offered by the company: shot blasting and metallization.

Shot blasting started this summer… but outside

“Previously, we subcontracted the shot blasting part to Angers,” explains Thierry Petitbon, head of the company. The activity began outside this summer, by renting equipment, before the arrival of the machine and its integration into the new 632 m2 building at the end of the year. A cabin was built into the building to house it. Shot blasting “like sandblasting but with stainless steel shot” is offered to professionals but also to communities and individuals.

“We take care of shot-blasting the parts, therefore whitewashing them, then also painting and grouting if necessary.” The company can, for example, manage the repair of private gates. “We also take care of removal, installation and possibly locksmithing.”

Another new activity developed by Métal Services during the commissioning of the new building: metallization. “Advanced anti-corrosion protection technology, extending the durability of metal structures”.

The available space in the building will see the installation of a “large boilermaking cell”.

“Until today, this activity was done outside. This will allow our employees to work safely.”

Métal Services employs 20 employees. The new activities allow the creation of a position.

€800,000 investment

A total investment of nearly €800,000. Thierry Petitbon details it: “€450,000 for the building, €95,000 for the photovoltaic panels and around €200,000 for the new shot blasting and metallization machines.”

The business manager has other projects. He will develop a “stainless steel finishing service with brushing and polishing”.

In the spring, a system for cleaning stainless steel parts by acidification will be added.
