Ianis Hagi’s father traveled to Glasgow to watch his son’s opener in Rangers’ thumping 3-0 victory over their long-time rivals Celtic.

Previously, Hagi senior had been vocal in his criticism of Clement, especially after his son was demoted to the reserves during a difficult period earlier in the season.

However, during his recent visit, Hagi senior chose not to interact with the Rangers coach, preferring to focus on quality time with Ianis. He said: “I didn’t want to bother Clement. I just wanted to spend time with Ianis. So no, I didn’t talk to him. I’m not mad at anyone. Clement and Ianis’ relationship has improved, and everything seems very good now.”

He then highlighted Ianis’ dedication to football, noting: “Ianis demonstrated, first of all, that he loves football and that the sport means a lot to him. Last summer was extremely difficult for him , and he passed a very difficult test. He showed how dedicated he is. I have to congratulate the national coach Mircea Lucescu for calling him to the national team even at a time when he had few playing minutes. Mircea had the courage to call him and was very pleased with him.”

“Ianis is a mature and established player. He played at all levels for our national team, was named best young player, won the championship with Rangers and achieved remarkable results. But, like any footballer, he encountered setbacks. I also had my challenges, like when I was demoted to Serie B with Brescia.”

He added: “I bring him luck. When I’m present at his matches, the goal usually happens! Unfortunately, it will be very difficult for me to see him again this season because I am busy with my own affairs.”
