At the end of December, 2,301 job seekers were registered with the Jura ORP, including 1,780 unemployed and 521 non-unemployed job seekers. This represents 90 more unemployed people than at the end of November, as well as an unemployment rate of 4.9%, an increase of 0.2 pt compared to the previous month.
In annual variation, this same unemployment rate shows an increase of 1.1 pt.
All job seekers monitored by the ORP increased by 105 people in December, and represent 6.3% of the active population domiciled in Jura. In total, the ORP opened 256 files and closed 146 during the past month.
As already in November, the increase in the number of unemployed comes mainly from the secondary sector, and more precisely from watchmaking due to the deterioration of the economy, as well as from construction due to a more seasonal trend.

The unemployment rate is 5.3% in the district of Delémont, 5.4% in that of Porrentruy and 2.6% in that of Franches-Montagnes.
Nationally, the unemployment rate increased by 0.2 pt in December. It stood at 2.8%.
Concerning reductions in working hours (RHT), 72 companies were authorized to use them in December, i.e. 2 fewer than in November (74), and 55 more than a year ago, in December 2023 (17).
