Electronic cigarette news in 2024
- January : while the French Observatory on Drugs and Addictive Tendencies (OFDT) published a report highlighting the sharp reduction in smoking among college students in France, a study with numerous methodological shortcomings concluded that vaping increased heart risks .
- FEBRUARY : two former WHO leaders criticized the organization’s position on electronic cigarettes while a new Swiss study confirmed its effectiveness as a smoking cessation tool.
- Mars : while British research highlighted the increase in misinformation about personal vaporizers, Belgium voted to ban puffs and a new study whose data had been described as “crude” showed alarmism about the effects of vaping .
- Avril : once is not customary, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a new page favorable to vaping while in France, the late SOVAPE association was heard in the Senate in order to defend electronic cigarettes.
- May : the WHO published a report showing that vaping now surpasses smoking among young people, while in France, the FIVAPE launched its guide to good practices for online sales and the CNCT called for a ban on nicotine sachets.

- August : as part of a vast communication operation, the DNF association joined forces with YouTuber Nozman to attack puff, while a new study confirmed the absence of a bridging effect between vaping and smoking.
- September : the Blog and magazine Vapyou announced the end of its publications, while the Cochrane Tobacco Addiction Group also announced its closure, in a final publication placing the electronic cigarette on the podium of the best ways to stop smoking.
- October : SOVAPE announced it would end its activities while a project to tax vaping was announced in France.
- November : the French Ministry of Health reversed course after publishing a page in favor of vaping, Smart Vapes appeared in Europe, while in Sweden, the country became the first in the world to fall below the symbolic threshold of 5 % of smokers.
- December : 16 European countries demanded urgent taxation of vaping products, while in France, the vaping sector was worried about a legal decision during a trial between anti-tobacco associations and British American Tobacco. An alarmist publication about nicotine sachets also appeared.
