This innovation could completely revolutionize poultry farming. In the Landes, a company has designed a robot dog whose mission is to bring in free-range chickens every evening. This task represents a considerable time saving for farmers.

Rather than running after their chickens (which are raised outdoors, but must return in the evening to protect themselves from predators), they could soon receive the help of e-doggy from the company EvoTech.

“He can stand, he can sit, he can get into any position,” explains Anthony Gavend, founder of EvoTech. And it really looks like a little Labrador. That’s about the size of the beast.”

It all starts from a meeting with the Maïsadour cooperative who wishes to reduce the arduousness of the work of breeders while continuing to raise chickens outdoors. “For the first test, I was very, very worried,” concedes Anthony Gavend. “I was very afraid that the chickens would have heart attacks and panic.”

But the first tests are conclusive. The dog walks slowly around the chickens to encourage them to come back without scaring them. “When we approached the robot and saw that they were curious and that they were not worried, it reassured us about the future,” explains the founder of‘EvoTech. Now, we are testing on several farms that our protocols are correct and working.”
