“Lindt master chocolatiers are seizing the trend and are proud to present their reinterpretation of the tasty recipe. Each Lindt Dubai chocolate bar is made and packaged by hand. Discover a pleasure that will delight all your senses. »
Using shimmering visuals and carefully chosen epithets, the communications department of the famous Swiss chocolatier pulled out all the stops, before Christmas, to present the Lindt version of Dubai chocolate to the world. This treat filled with crispy pistachio praline has hit smartphones since a culinary influencer promoted it on the social network TikTok, racking up more than 100 million views.
The trend turned heads so much that tablets began to command crazy prices on online sales sites, especially eBay. A boon for chocolatiers, many of whom offered their customers their interpretation of Dubai chocolate at the end of the year.
Which is rare…
For its part, Lindt marketed its first “Dubai style” tablets at the end of November in Geneva and Zurich, in a limited edition of course – what is rare is expensive. When the tablets arrived in Germany, long queues were seen in front of the Swiss firm’s stores.
In France, the chocolatier waited until the end of December and the traditional Christmas rush to launch its version of pistachio chocolate in the store of its only French factory, located in Oloron-Sainte-Marie, in Béarn. Some 600 tablets were placed on the shelves at a price of €9.99. “Dubai chocolate was a victim of its success, all the bars were gone in a day and a half. This is the first time that we have observed this type of behavior around a specific tablet. We have never seen a product create so much buzz on the networks,” explains Lindt in Oloron.
The speculator
Georges is one of the lucky ones who was able to obtain a few copies before they ran out of stock. “It was my partner who found the tablets while going Christmas shopping. I’m very fond of this type of limited sales… which often turn into flops, but that doesn’t discourage me. I tried the experiment of selling one on eBay. In the auctions, it was 50 cents. In the end I sold it for €15.50. Not too bad, but it’s far from the 150 balls we saw here and there! »
Our speculator especially saw it as an opportunity to slip a few tablets under the tree. To the great joy of his 14-year-old niece, very influenced by social networks. “She was crazy!” She only had eyes for the tablet and not at all for her other gifts. » Who knows, in a while, when the Dubai-style Lindt tablets will have become unobtainable, perhaps Georges’ niece will be able to make a nice added value. As long as the trend is still relevant…
