Working on the evening of December 22 with the headquarters of the Party Committee of Lao Cai Province (North), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged provincial authorities to strive to ensure that local growth reaches more than 10% in 2025 and in subsequent years.

According to a report presented by provincial authorities, the province's economic growth in 2024 is estimated at 7.38%, higher than the country's average rate. Its annual per capita income is expected to amount to 97.5 million, an increase of 8.9 million VND compared to 2023, representing 80% of the national average.
Local GDP is expected to reach 78,000 billion VND (3.06 billion USD), allowing Lao Cai to occupy the 44e national rank. The number of visitors to the province is estimated at 7.8 million this year, up 8% year-on-year. Import-export is expected to reach USD 3.62 billion, up 68% from 2023.

Welcoming the results obtained by this province, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of mobilizing all resources to promote development. He stressed the need to improve the efficiency of attraction and use of investments, particularly FDI and funds from public-private partnerships.
It is also necessary to continue to prioritize growth, renew the traditional growth drivers of investment, export and consumption, and promote new ones such as science and technology, innovation, the circular economy, the green transition economy, digital transformation…
The Prime Minister further asked Lao Cai to redouble its efforts to become a growth pole of the northern border region and a center of connectivity and economic exchanges between Vietnam, ASEAN countries and the South -Western China.
In the afternoon, the head of government visited the Hung Hoa diocese to offer his Christmas greetings.
