The latest data on the labor market in Luxembourg were published by the Employment Development Agency (Adem) this Friday, December 20, 2024.

This information allows us to take stock of the sectors of activity which recruit the most employeesthe number of cross-border workers looking for a job in Luxembourg or the rate of unemployment.

Fewer and fewer vacancies in Luxembourg

The number of vacant positions continues to decline. Saturday November 30, 2024, Adem recorded 6,140 positions availablecompared to 6,698 last October.

“The decline over one year is 16.3%. This decline […] mainly impacts the IT, banking and building finishing trades,” specifies Adem.

Here are the 10 sectors of activity that were looking for the most employees in November 2024

Although the number of vacant positions is decreasing, there are still many of them. Here is the top 10 sectors that were looking for the most employees in November 2024:

  • Information and telecommunications systems
  • Accounting and management
  • Culinary production
  • Secretariat and assistance
  • Second work
  • Social, socio-educational and socio-cultural action
  • Banque
  • Service
  • Sales force
  • Production equipment, collective equipment

More than 3,000 cross-border workers looking for a job in Luxembourg

There are more and more cross-border workers looking for a job in Luxembourg. By the end of November, they were 3,165 non-residents available (compared to 3,027 in October).

The number of residents available is also on the rise: 18,625 at the end of November (compared to 18,293 in October).

For its part, the unemployment rate increased from 5.8% to 5,9 %.
