Fiat has just given an end date for its thermal Panda and it won’t be right away

Grandma will resist. Launched in 2011, the current Fiat Panda will remain in the catalog until 2030, when it will give way to a fourth version.

Stellantis has just published its action plan for 2030 for all of its production sites in Italy. Document which complements the announcements of hybridization of models which initially were only to be electric, like the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia as well as the future Lancia Gamma.

Born in 2011, the Panda will be on sale until 2030

But the salient fact of this atypical long-term communication is that the Fiat Pandina will remain in the catalog until 2030. Born Fiat Panda in 2011, the third version of the Italian chip, 3.65 m long, changed its name at the start of the year so as not to be confused with its big sister the Fiat Grande Panda (3.99 m ) – technical cousin of the new Citroën C3 – providing a complement from above. On this horizon, the fourth generation of the Fiat Panda will appear.

The current version of the box of tricks will therefore remain in the catalog for 19 years, a long career for which the model is accustomed. Indeed, the very first version of the Panda, the cubic one born in 1980 under the pen of Giorgeto Giugiaro, even made the pleasure last longer in the dealership. The Fiat Panda was produced for 23 years from 1980 to 2003 with in the meantime two restylings in 1986 then in 1992 with more than 5.5 million units. Thus, with a presence of only 9 years in the catalog, from 2003 to 2012, the second generation of the Panda is almost an exception.

From now on, the Fiat Panda range is based on a single 1.0 Hybrid 70 hp engine associated with a 5-speed manual gearbox available in two finishing levels Panda (from €15,900) and Pandina (from €17 900 €), the latter adopting an adventurer’s livery without however receiving the all-wheel drive previously offered by the Fiat Panda 4×4 Cross. If Fiat took the trouble to adapt its city car to GSR2 standards, which certain rivals did not do, starting with the Renault Twingo which discreetly left the scene in the spring, it is to maintain an affordable entry proposition. of range.

The Pomigliano d’Arco plant located in the province of Naples will also host the production of two new compact models based on the STLA Small technical platformchassis which will be released in the group by the third generation of the Peugeot 208, in 2026.
