Third in the driver standings during the 2024 F1 season which has just ended, Charles Leclerc will be supported by living legend Lewis Hamilton next year. For Frédéric Vasseur, director of the Ferrari team, the Monegasque still needs to improve.
With three Grands Prix won, Charles Leclerc secured a good third place in the drivers’ standings for the 2024 Formula 1 season. Unfortunately, this was not enough for Ferrari to win the constructors’ standings, while McLaren finished in front for 14 small points.
Next season, the Scuderia will no longer count on the services of Carlos Sainz, new Williams Racing driver. To replace him, Lewis Hamilton, seven-time world champion, eager to seize the record, alone in front of a certain Michael Schumacher, almost 40 years old. Leclerc, for his part, will be able to take advantage of the Briton’s immense experience to progress a little further. This is what its director, Frédéric Vasseur, ardently hopes.
“He can still grow”, Vasseur awaits Leclerc around the corner
Interviewed by Sky Italia, Frédéric Vasseur spoke about the arrival of Lewis Hamilton and the impact it will have on Charles Leclerc:
“I’m happy with what he’s done this year, he’s improved a lot, but he can still grow. He is fast and he knows it, but it is in race management that he can do even more, but he is on the right track. The challenge with Hamilton will help him in this sense. I’m sure he has great respect for Lewis and will be able to absorb the benefit of this situation like a sponge.“
As a reminder, Leclerc finished in an interesting second place during the 2022 season. Fifth in 2023, he did not manage to confirm. Can the competition with Lewis Hamilton, which we hope is healthy, push her to win her first world champion title at the end of next year?
