the Chinese electric SUV arrives in Europe to challenge the Tesla Model Y

Just launched in China where it has met with great success, Zeekr’s electric SUV is arriving in Europe. This third model from the Geely group brand will be priced at less than €53,000, for the moment in only three countries.

Geely’s flagship electrification brand created in 2021, Zeekr is expected to sell just over 200,000 cars this year. A result which is almost entirely based on its national market. Officially marketed in Europe for several months, its sales still remain limited (probably less than 5,000 cars in 2024). Zeekr is in fact only offered in a few countries, of which France is not yet a part.

Nevertheless, Geely wants to continue its expansion and is therefore now adding the Zeekr 7X SUV alongside the 001 and X crossovers. Presumably, the 7 sedan will not be part of the offer. An absence which will be compensated for in 2025 by an estate version.

This is the brand’s first model launched in Europe with the new stylistic identity. However, we note that the famous Stargate headband which makes it original has disappeared here. Not complying with European regulations, it is replaced by a less spectacular lacquered black headband.

With its 4797 mm long, the Zeekr 7X enters the same category as the Tesla Model Y (4751 mm) or its compatriot Xpeng G6. It offers very generous rear seat space, a classic of Chinese models, and a 539-liter trunk supplemented by a 66-liter frunk.

Ultra-fast charging

On the engine side, Zeekr announces three versions: two with 310 kW propulsion, one with 470 kW four-wheel drive. We will also have a choice between two batteries, the entry-level version is equipped with the Geely Golden Battery, with a capacity of 75 kWh in LFP chemistry.

The Long Range and Performance versions receive a 100 kWh NMC battery. More autonomy, but a little slower charging. The access version announces a 10 to 80% in just 13 minutes. The large battery, also in 800 volt architecture, is not unworthy with the same charge completed in 16 minutes. For alternating current, the 22 kW charger is standard.

Three countries will have the scoop on the launch: Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. In the only country using the euro, the Netherlands, the base price has been set at €52,990. A price that includes a 5-year or 100,000 km warranty, which can be extended up to 10 years and 200,000 km. The battery is covered by an 8-year/200,000 km warranty.
