TikTok Canada has submitted a request for judicial review of the federal government’s order aimed at stopping its activities in the country.

The company made the announcement on Tuesday, in a press release in which it argued that this decision would jeopardize “hundreds” of jobs.
“This order would eliminate the jobs and livelihoods of our hundreds of dedicated employees who provide technical support to more than 14 million monthly TikTok users in Canada,” we can read.
“We believe that it is in the primary interest of Canadians that we find a solution to ensure that a local team remains in place alongside the TikTok platform,” we add.
The order in question was given by the federal government earlier this month and requested that TikTok’s Canadian subsidiary cease operations.
The platform can, however, continue to be used in Canada.
In the court document filed on December 5 in federal court, TikTok Canada describes this order as “unreasonable” and argues that it violates its procedural fairness rights.
