The number of new constructions carried out in the territory of the City of Longueuil will reach 2,214 units this year, according to the municipality’s projections, which represents an increase of 665% compared to 2023.

This number of new units represents a ten-year high, according to a press release obtained by TVA News.
The mayor of Longueuil, Catherine Fournier, promises that construction in the area “will only accelerate in the coming years.”
“We are working hand in hand with real estate developers so that these new projects can see the light of day which contribute to increasing the supply available on the market,” she added.
The City of Longueuil had recorded a significant slowdown in construction starts on its territory during the previous year.
This decline was attributed in particular to the significant increase in interest rates and construction costs linked to inflation.
