An accident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. near the Servette TPG stop, at the intersection of the street of the same name and avenue Wendt. According to a witness, a person was hit by a tram 18 traveling towards CERN at the pedestrian crossing, just in front of the McDonald’s.
“The tram door opened, we could hear a woman crying,” she said. The police and firefighters immediately rushed to the scene. The person’s vital prognosis would be in jeopardy, indicates the Fire and Rescue Service, which refers to the police for more information. This confirms the accident, but says no more.
On the axis in question, traffic was disrupted on the way up and down. Police are advising motorists to avoid the area. A shuttle service has been set up between Cornavin and Les Avanchets, the trams of lines 14 and 18 no longer being able to temporarily circulate on this section, report the TPG.
Traffic accidents are increasing. Last week, Thursday morning, around 7 a.m., a head-on collision occurred between a motorist and a scooter rider on rue du Vidollet. The car ended up hitting a low wall, while the scooter rider was thrown several meters. Taken to hospital in serious condition, he unfortunately died. This is the twelfth fatal accident on Geneva roads this year.
