Major outage at Telenet: thousands of customers deprived of mobile network

Thousands of customers of the telecom operator Telenet have been experiencing network problems since Tuesday around 7 a.m. They cannot make calls or use the Internet via the mobile network, a company spokesperson confirmed.

Many of you report an outage to us on several mobile networks via the orange Alert us button. The Telenet company confirms a technical problem. “Maintenance work was planned for tonight. Unfortunately, something went wrong at the very end of the procedure.”explained Bart Boone, spokesperson for Telenet. “Since 7:00 a.m., a network restart has been underway. This means that customers will gradually regain access to the mobile network.”

However, the technical problems could still last for some time, the spokesperson warned. “When a network restarts, many people try to make calls at the same time, which can lead to network saturation. It is therefore possible that this unstable situation will persist for a while.” Telenet emphasizes, however, that no problems have been reported regarding the fixed internet network and television.
