“Investigators quickly revealed a series of irregularities linked to the provisional registration of vehicles, often obtained fraudulently via professionals benefiting from access keys to the Vehicle Registration System [SIV]”announced the national gendarmerie after the seizure, on November 12 in the Var department, of 12 luxury cars, including Lamborghinis, for a total value estimated at 1.7 million euros!
Numerous speeding incidents with impunity
The vehicles in question, all registered in Poland, at the heart of fraudulent practices, are suspected of being linked to organized criminal networks. In fact, these cars were sublet on the Côte d’Azur, “allowing their drivers to commit serious traffic violations, including significant speeding, with complete impunity.” Furthermore, the financial elements seized by the gendarmes reinforce “suspicions of fraud and links with organized criminal networks, with possible international ramifications”. The investigation, which was entrusted to the Brignoles research brigade, “is currently continuing to determine the full extent of these practices”.
