Reducing the use of paper and limiting waste production is the goal of the young Moroccan entrepreneur Mohamed Mokhtari, aged 24 and living in Marrakech. To meet this ecological challenge, he launched, since 2020, his technological start-up Airlod, specializing in the manufacture of digital business cards. Backed by a mobile application, this document, equipped with QR Code technology, allows users to compile their personal and professional information, modify it and adapt it as needed.

«AirLod is a Moroccan startup specializing in e-reputation and networking solutions. Through this map, we wanted to offer solutions to allow users to exchange information in a simple and fast way», explains the founder and general manager of Airlod, met by Le360 on the sidelines of Gitex Africa 2024 in Marrakech.

The idea for this digital business card came from an observation made by this son of a retired journalist.I attended several events in Marrakech with my father and each time I noticed that he forgot to bring his business cards, even though he had thousands of them in his office.. Pour To solve this problem, I experimented with several digital solutions before arriving at this digital map.“, says this holder of a master’s degree in business creation, innovation and startup creation from Cadi Ayyad University.

Next step: fundraising

In order to disseminate its solution, the company has established partnerships with the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, as well as with hotels, restaurants and banks in Marrakech. Discussions have also been initiated with the organizers of Gitex Africa and a partnership is envisaged «to make digital business cards for guests and participants of the next edition“, assures our interlocutor.

Until now, Airlod has been operating with its founder’s personal funds. After three years of existence, the latter plans to seek funding to make it grow.We plan to raise funds soon and collaborate with incubators and accelerators to develop our project in Morocco, and why not in other African countries and in Europe.” he announced.

The start-up also participated last year in the 41st edition of the Forum of the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (EPFL), in Switzerland. An opportunity which allowed Mohamed Mokhtari and his team to present the digital business card in order to attract potential investors.
