Which seniors will benefit from the exceptional “Majex” increase by September?

Retirement pensions regularly benefit from various revaluations that allow for an increase in income. By September, former retirees who announced their departure before September 2023 should thus benefit from the exceptional increase called “Majex”.

Thanks to the increase in the contributory minimum, around 1.8 million retirees will receive an increase of up to 100 euros on their pensions. But in October 2023, only 500,000 small pensioners benefited from this increase, the amount of which amounts on average to 50 euros. As a reminder, “the contributory minimum allows retirees from the general Social Security Old Age Insurance scheme who have contributed on low salaries to receive a minimum amount of basic retirement”, details the public service on its website.

Retirees who have still not seen an increase in their pension can rest assured. The revaluation should arrive by September 2024. In any case, this is what the director of the Cnav, Renaud Villard, had stated last March.

Eligible retirees will receive an email

It is important to specify that to access this revaluation, the pensioner in question must have benefited from a pension at a rate of at least 50% in addition to having validated a total of 120 quarters. Regarding the payment for all pensioners who are entitled to it, the payment schedule for the “Majex” has not been communicated. “No alert on the schedule”, replied the Cnav to Moneyvox.

Over the next two months of the summer, the many retirees eligible for the exceptional “Majex” increase should receive an email indicating the amount to which they are entitled. The amount of the catch-up for the missing sweet months should also be mentioned in this letter sent by the Cnav to its insured persons.

In addition to this extended deadline, the government’s promise to increase the MICO by 100 euros per month will not benefit everyone either. In fact, only retirees who have worked their entire lives in the private sector (or as self-employed workers or in the agricultural sector), and whose remuneration was at the minimum wage, can have access to these additional 100 euros. A former employee in the private or public sector cannot therefore claim this full revaluation.
