Geneva Public Transport (tpg) is announcing several changes starting with the timetable change on December 15, 2024. The offer is expanding early in the morning and late in the evening to encourage leisure-related travel. A so-called beach line will be launched this spring, along the lakeside U.
Taking into account the driver commitments made in recent months, the tpg confirms their ability to fully ensure their offer, they wrote in a press release on Thursday. The lines will generally have a first departure at 5:00 a.m.
Connections between the tpg and the Léman Express will be provided from that time in the canton. The tpg will also be more present at the end of the evening.
At the technological level, the first new generation electric buses will be put into operation on line 5, which connects Thônex-Vallard to the airport via the city center, during 2025. This pilot line will mark the continuation of electrification of the tpg fleet.
In addition, a line of beaches will be put into service along the lake U between Bois Caran in Collonge-Bellerive and Creux de Genthod. It will be numbered 29 and will be operational from May 2 until September 29, Friday from 9 p.m. to midnight, as well as Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to midnight.
Other modifications are planned on various lines operated across the canton of Geneva, in particular targeted reinforcements on line 8 running from Veyrier to Palexpo. All the changes planned on the network as well as the new timetables – valid from December 15 – can be consulted on the tpg website.
