In sectors like sport or large audiovisual groups, we call this the transfer window. Every year, the transfer market heats up and a number of major players change teams or, more simply, employers. In the business world, this obviously also exists, but often on a smaller scale and with much less media coverage.
The Cactus group, number 1 in the field of mass distribution in Luxembourg, has just struck a major blow. Cactus SA announces, in fact, this Wednesday, November 20 in a press release that “Mr. Cédric Gonnet becomes the new operational director” on Luxembourg territory. Cédric Gonnet is the current country director of Delhaize, undoubtedly Cactus’ biggest competitor on the Grand Ducal market. Position he has held since 2021, after having notably served as sales director for several years at MediaMarkt/Saturn for the Luxembourg and Belgian territories.
A new function
Aged 50 – including 25 years of experience and managerial responsibilities in Europe and Asia – this French citizen “will officially take up his duties from 1is January 2025,” the press release further indicates.
It should be noted that his arrival does not cause a game of “musical chairs” within the Cactus hierarchy, this position of operational director having just been created for him. Laurent Schonckert (66), administrator and director of Cactus SA, remains head of the group. The two men should necessarily work closely together.
