20 million: the City of Geneva wants to buy Zep’s house

20 million: the City of Geneva wants to buy Zep’s house

The City of Geneva wishes to buy Zep’s house. A first offer of 20 million francs would have been made, but nothing has been concluded, neither financially nor politically.

Last July, we learned that Titeuf’s dad had put his mansion and his estate in Geneva up for sale. It is a four-story, sixteen-room residence, with a park of more than 30,000 m2, on the banks of the Rhône. The designer bought it in 2008, for a little over 13 million.

Returning to information from Léman Bleu, the “Tribune de Genève” explains this Wednesday that the Municipal Department of Planning, Construction and Mobility has confirmed that a majority of the Administrative Council has given positive notice to the purchase of the 17th century residence. The City would have made an offer of 20 million francs. Zep would currently ask for 2 million more.

What’s next? In addition to financial negotiations, the desire for acquisition must pass into the hands of the finance committee, then, above all, by the Municipal Council. Maybe already from November 26.

The fact remains that according to the elected officials from different sides surveyed, nothing is won. Basically, the questions seem to mainly concern the interest for the population in purchasing the estate. To do what exactly? Maybe a public park. On the other hand, for the house itself, everything is open. “Everything is possible. A meeting place for international Geneva, a climate house, offices for the administration or associations,” comments ecologist Alfonso Gomez, in charge of Finance and Spaces, in the Geneva daily.
