NARRATIVE – At a time of ecological transition, Le Figaro crossed a large part of France with three vehicles of different technology. Who wins the match?

Is now the right time to take the plunge and go electric? The question goes round and round in most homes. The answer is not definitive and it depends on each person’s needs and uses. In absolute terms, there is no urgent need for motorists to convert to a “zero-emission” car. It is the regulations that push manufacturers to sell an increasingly large share of carbon-free vehicles. In 2030, according to the Cafe (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standard, manufacturers must have reduced greenhouse gas emissions from their ranges by 55% compared to 1990. An ambitious trajectory which requires most players to achieve half of their sales are electric.

Since the start of the year, sales of electric models have fallen by 11.8% in Europe. Of course, everyone knew that the sale of these vehicles would fluctuate, but today, no one dares to draw plans on the comet anymore…
