This new longtail bike from Tern is very competitively priced

Tern Bicycles unveils a new longtail bike, the Quick Haul Long. Another compact cargo bike in the Taiwanese manufacturer’s range. To summarize, it is less premium than the GSD and more extended than the HSD. The Tern Quick Haul Long is, as its name suggests, longer than its cousin, the Quick Haul, which is shorter. Are you still following? Above all, its carrying capacity is impressive: 190 kg! We detail all this for you below.

Yet another new compact cargo bike from Tern: the Quick Haul Long

Unlike Tern Bicycles’ longtail cargo bike models, which sometimes become longer and sometimes shorter, the Taiwan manufacturer’s range continues to grow. “We launched the GSD in 2018 because we believed a compact cargo bike was perfectly suited to an urban environment” says Josh Hon, CEO of Tern, in the press release.

Since then, the extended electric cargo bike offering has expanded. Moreover, they have all passed through our hands for a test: the HSD, the NBD, then the Quick Haul and most recently the Orox adventurer. There is only the Short Haul that we did not have under our butts, which is a shorter longtail bike, but without assistance. Are you still following?

Quick Haul Long: the cargo bike for families (and couples)

Thus, the Quick Haul Long completes the Tern range. From a design point of view, it looks a lot like the GSD. Its objective remains the same: daily travel, whether to go to work, take the children to school, go shopping or go out in the evening (you also have the right to go out in the afternoon and even in the morning) .

DIN 79010 norms

With 190 kg of payload, you will still be able to transport them when they are 18 years old (probably not both at the same time)

With its 20-inch wheels, this bike maintains a length similar to that of a classic urban bike, while offering superior transport capacities. The Quick Haul Long can support a total load of 190 kg, allowing two young children or even an adult to be transported in the back. Beyond being a family bike, we often find that the longtail is also an excellent mount for riding as a couple with your teenager or partner.

Technically, the Quick Haul Long from Tern meets the DIN 79 010 standard. This German standard, published by the German institute for standardization (DIN), specifies safety requirements and test methods for cargo bicycles. This standard is not yet used by all cargo bike manufacturers. It validates the resistance of the frame and fork, but also of the structural components (stem, seat, handlebars, wheels, etc.).

An accessible electric longtail cargo bike

A secure central box will be visibly available (optional)

The Quick Haul Long model also stands out for its competitive price. It is priced from 3,999 Euros. Obviously, this price can quickly increase once you check out, if you opt for different accessories in the Tern range. However, this places it at a rather low price compared to the competition. Even more so, given its equipment which remains of good quality, starting with its Bosch engine.

The Tern Quick Haul Long is equipped with a Bosch Cargo Line edition engine. This is the engine designed by the German equipment manufacturer to transport heavy loads, with a map adapted to have torque immediately (up to 85 Nm), particularly on climbs. This should provide efficient electrical assistance, making it easier to transport heavy loads over long distances effortlessly.

Easy to roll, easy to store?

Like more and more longtail bikes now, the Quick Haul Long’s design can stand upright for storage in elevators or small apartments. Its low frame makes it easy to step over from the front. It is also easily adjustable to suit cyclists measuring 1.55 to 1.85 m, which makes the model interesting for shared family use.

The Quick Haul Long will be available in bicycle stores distributing the Tern brand in Europe, from August 2024. By then, who knows, we may have had it in our hands to offer you a Tern. It is possible that we will try it quickly at the next Eurobike in Frankfurt (July 3 to 7, 2024).
