The summer holidays promise to be busy on the roads, like every year. On this occasion, Chargemap has just published a ranking of the most reliable networks for recharging your electric car. On the program: Tesla, Fastned, Electra, but also other players like Ionity and TotalEnergies.
Charging an electric car has become a simple formality, given the number of fast charging stations in France, and particularly at motorway service areas. But, sometimes, certain terminals are capricious, to the point of not being able to recharge your car. A situation fortunately rare, and which above all strongly depends on the network used.
It is for this reason that Chargemap has just published a ranking of the most reliable networks for recharging your electric car this summer. Remember that Chargemap is a community application, allowing you to easily find charging stations nearby or along your route. Users can rate the terminals and leave comments.
The French company (which publishes the media Clean Automotive) used these notes and comments provided on the application between January 1 and June 9, 2024 to build the ranking that interests us today.
The podium of the most reliable charging networks
In France, the podium is shared between Fastned, Tesla and Electra which comes in third position. Ionity only comes in 7th position, ahead of TotalEnergies which climbs to 6th place. In Europe, the ranking is slightly different, since Electra takes pole position, ahead of Tesla and Fatned. Ionity strangely remains in 7th place.
Chargemap gives the definition of reliability, as understood in the classification: it is “ the ease of use, the initiation of charging, the delivered power/expected power ratio, as well as the condition of the terminals and cables« .
For our part, we had also produced a ranking of the best charging networks for electric cars, taking into account numerous criteria, such as reliability, but also cost and location. The Tesla, Fastned and Ionity networks then shared the podium.
