Teslas are definitely cars apart. As reported by AutoPlus, which cites Arizona’s Family, the owner of one of these electric vehicles panicked when it locked while her 20-month-old granddaughter was trapped inside. .

Renee Sanchez, a grandmother from Scottsdale, Arizona, recently wanted to take her granddaughter to the Phoenix Zoo. She then puts him in the back, in his car seat: “I closed the door and walked around the car to get in the front seat but the car was locked. I couldn’t get in.”

“We can’t open these cars”

On these models, there are several solutions to open the doors, including via the phone application. This time, nothing worked. The little girl was stuck inside and her grandmother had to call for help.

“It’s a Tesla, we can’t open these cars”one of the firefighters shouted at him when he arrived on the scene. “I don’t care if you have to cut the car in half, just get it out!”replies the owner of the vehicle.

To enter, the emergency services put tape on a window to prevent the glass from shattering and then broke the glass with an ax. Inside the car, the little girl is getting impatient: “At first she didn’t say anything. But as soon as the firefighters arrived and there was a commotion, the window was broken, she was scared and she started crying.”

“I was afraid”

A firefighter was finally able to extract the child from the passenger compartment. “When I knew she was safe, I felt angry. I was scared, I told myself it could have been much worse…”confides the grandmother.

The reason for the incident is quite simple: the battery died without warning. Normally, owners should receive three warnings telling them to change it quickly. In this case, Renee Sanchez never received anything.

“Tesla when it works, it’s great”

There is a way to open the doors when the battery is dead, but the solution is not well known. In addition, it takes time and requires clamps that must be connected to the battery.

Even if her granddaughter is doing well, the grandmother’s confidence in the brand has taken a hit: “I congratulate Tesla. When it works, it’s great. But when it doesn’t, it can be deadly!”
