One of them which saw the light of day in January 2023 has clearly become a phenomenon. The sticker “I Bought This Before We Knew Elon Was Crazy” is surely the most popular stickers.
Possible repercussions for Tesla
According to Matthew Hiller, the creator of some of these stickers, sales have exploded several times in 2024. According to Heatmap Newspeaks were reached after notable events, including Elon Musk’s appearance at a Donald Trump political rally. The day after the elections, he even recorded between 250 and 300 orders in a single day.
Since then, Matthew has expanded his sticker catalog with various messages to protest Elon Musk. This phenomenon shows how public perception of Elon Musk influence directly customer attitudes towards Tesla. However, it is clear that their vehicles remain among the best in the electric car market.
In the end, the stickers seem to be just the tip of the iceberg. They still reveal a deeper trendincluding growing unease among Tesla buyers. This dissatisfaction could ultimately push some customers to turn to serious competitors like Ford, Rivian or General Motors. These brands continue to develop competitive electric models and are becoming more and more interesting on this point. In the long term, Elon Musk’s image could well harm Tesla.
