The Schwarz group, owner of Lidl, announces that its subsidiary StackIT will offer hosting of Google Workspace data in Europe. Clients retain control of their encryption key.
StackIT announced a partnership with Google. The German IT service provider, from the Schwarz group, owner of Lidl supermarkets, uses its own cloud platform to offer a storage option in Europe to Google Workspace customers. This hosting also benefits from a client-side encryption option. Even Google will not be able to access user data, thus meeting strict requirements for data privacy and resilience. Users control their encryption keys and, by extension, access to their data.
StackIT guarantees that information will remain exclusively in the European Union, with redundant backups in its local data centers. The company emphasizes that this approach meets expectations in terms of data protection and resilience in sensitive sectors such as finance and healthcare.
Schwarz Group companies, including Lidl, will adopt this solution for their own use. “Our alliance with Schwarz Group companies will enable all industries in Europe to innovate digitally with security and compliance at the heart of their concerns,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud.
