A motorist in his twenties who tried to outrun the police after violating the Highway Safety Code was arrested overnight from Sunday to Monday in eastern Montreal.

The driver of the vehicle, who refused to stop despite the use of emergency equipment, fled, provoking a police chase on the A-40.

A nailed carpet made it possible to put an end to the run of the fleeing motorist who stopped near Boulevard du Tercentenaire, indicated SQ spokesperson Ève Brochu-Joubert.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and will be held in custody until he appears in court to face charges of fleeing and dangerous driving.

Two other people, whose ages have not been revealed, were in the vehicle, but they were not arrested, said the SQ.
