Perspective on RAM’s 2024 summer strategy

Royal Air Maroc recently unveiled its ambitious plan for summer 2024, aiming to meet growing demand by strengthening its fleet and significantly increasing its flight offering. This initiative includes the introduction of new aircraft and the expansion of its international and domestic routes. RAM plans to welcome more than 6.5 million passengers to more than 90 global destinations. With an increase of more than 300,000 seats compared to the previous year, particularly focused on Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Africa, RAM seeks to meet the growing needs of Moroccans around the world entire group wishing to travel to their country of origin during the summer season.

Ok, RAM focuses on improving operational efficiency and the quality of customer service, promising a better experience for passengers thanks to increased technical and human resources. The introduction of latest generation aircraft chartered from renowned partners reinforces the commitment to safety and comfort, in accordance with international standards.

But despite these advances, it seems obvious to remain cautious about RAM’s real capacity to maintain quality of service in the context of such rapid expansion. Substantial capacity increases can sometimes result in business-as-usual operational challenges, such as delays, cancellations and degraded quality of service, especially if human and logistics resources are not prepared enough to keep pace with the expansion. announced.

Only a careful balance between expansion and operational efficiency will allow RAM to truly meet the high expectations of its customers while ensuring sustainable development for the future.

Already to renew and develop its air fleet in an ambitious manner, the RAM would have to struggle in the face of the financial hazards which are plaguing it, not to mention the international upheavals. Certainly, the national airline aims to quadruple its fleet, from 50 to 200 planes by 2037, in order to be able to serve 143 destinations and transport 31.6 million passengers, but this represents a heavy logistical and financial challenge on its shoulders.

Becoming a “global carrier” by developing a north-south and east-west transcontinental hub, as well as a transversal national network, is very ambitious and should in principle be warmly applauded. However, this involves an in-depth review of its business model and its network of destinations. There’s quite a story there…

We can still question the RAM’s ability to respond effectively to major international events planned in Morocco, such as the 2030 World Cup, by being able to transport its share of a large influx of passengers.

So many challenges and others that can disrupt the momentum displayed for the ambitious expansion of its fleet and its network, its adaptation to major events, its environmental transition and the strengthening of its brand image.

To God displease!
