For the year 2023 alone, Amazon has invested “more than a billion euros in the country”, bringing investments made in Luxembourg to “more than 9 billion euros” since 2010, the American multinational indicated this Thursday in a press release. This figure includes “more than 3 billion euros” spent on employee salaries and benefits since 2010. Or around 214 million euros on average each year.
Amazon opened its first offices in the Grund district in 2003, before moving to the Kirchberg plateau, which today hosts the entire site, made up of seven buildings. “This move proved necessary to respond to the growth in the workforce, which now numbers more than 4,250 employees, which makes Amazon one of the main employers in the country according to Statec,” notes the web giant.
