Motorists who would like to reach the island of Montreal via the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel during the weekend of November 15 will have to find another route due to a complete closure for major repairs.
These obstacles are required in order to install a work area in the center of the highway, between the Souligny interchange and Sherbrooke Street, for the construction of the central reservation, explained the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility in a press release.
Maintenance and inspection work on the tunnel will also be carried out, the ministry said.
Highway 25, towards the South Shore, including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, will also be unavailable during the nights of November 15 to 17.
Starting November 18, traffic on Highway 25, heading north, will be on the new concrete slabs, between the Souligny interchange and Sherbrooke Street.
The entrance to Highway 15, heading north, from Notre-Dame Street will be closed until the end of 2025, announced the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
A detour will be possible for motorists via the temporary entrance located north of rue Hochelaga.
“In the event of unfavorable weather conditions or operational constraints, this work could be postponed,” the ministry said.
