Closed since the beginning of October due to the deterioration of its structure, the Saint-Michel station on the blue line of the Montreal metro will be reopened Monday at 10 a.m.

This was announced by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) in a press release in which it also specified that the shuttle service put in place since the station closed will be suspended.

“The STM is now convinced that the premises are safe for customers, which allows the station to reopen. The shuttle bus service set up to compensate for the closure will be suspended from 11 a.m.,” indicated the public transport company.

Since the closure of this metro station on October 3, safety work has been carried out on two beams of the staircase, according to the STM, which reveals that their deterioration turned out to be more significant than anticipated.

“The finalization of the structural work on the beams will be integrated into the station repair work, undertaken last March, which will now continue normally,” mentioned the STM, adding that the station’s main entrance remains closed until ‘in spring.

At the beginning of October, the STM initially announced the closure of three Blue League stations, namely Saint-Michel, D’Iberville and Fabre, but the latter two were reopened a week later following changes in the signaling system.
