An intergenerational garden in Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande

The Gardens of Harmonythis is the name of an intergenerational project which was officially inaugurated this week in the Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande sector of the town of Saint-Georges.

The specialized educator and initiator of the project, Isabelle Doyon, explains that garden containers were built and installed on the site of the Harmonie school, thanks to the participation of several parents of students who gave their time to make the project a reality. initiative. Likewise, producers The Apple Kings planted two apple trees, a pear tree and a plum tree.

The place will allow seniors in the area, particularly those who live in the residence The Countryman, to share their knowledge of gardening and market gardening with young people. The school’s students will thus be able to learn the basics of this practice and will be able to participate in the growth of the garden by coming to work there with their parents and siblings. Please note that all residents will have the opportunity to come and taste the fruits of their labor free of charge.

The project was made possible thanks to the main support of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, and support from the member for Beauce-Sud, Samuel Poulin. Ms. Doyon was also able to count on the collaboration of the director of the Harmonie school, Marilyne Goulet, to bring the business to fruition.
