Formalin in soap bubbles? Gifi stores recall this toy intended for children

It was the management of the Gifi stores which themselves took the decision to remove this toy from its shelves throughout France, according to a publication published on the Conso Rappel website this Thursday, June 13.

This toy from the Wanna Bubble brand, which is used to make soap bubbles, comes in the form of a pack of three 35 ml bottles representing dragons (green, yellow and blue) and filled with soapy water.

Soapy water… in principle, since that’s all it takes when you want to make soap bubbles at home. But in this toy (hence the decision to remove it), the presence of a CMR type product, that is, a chemical substance possibly carcinogenic, mutagenic and/or toxic for reproduction. This substance being in this case formaldehyde, known in its liquid form as “formaldehyde”.

Skin irritations

This formaldehyde is present in this product to make soap bubbles in its gaseous, colorless form, with an unpleasant odor and flammable. Its presence in this children’s toy may cause skin irritation or even external injuries.

Gifi management advises that you no longer use this product and return it to the point of sale for a refund.
