Liege Airport is launching a vast extension of its northeast zone, as part of a development plan planned until 2040 and with 500 million euros of investments. This project, which includes the construction of 15 aircraft parking lots and 4 warehouses, aims to almost double annual flights, from 30,000 to a potential of 55,000 over the next 20 years.
An impact study is underway to assess the environmental impact of these infrastructures on noise, air quality and mobility in the surrounding area, including 18 municipalities such as Liège, Grâce-Hollogne, and Visé.
Residents and other interested parties are invited to a public information session on November 20 (7 p.m. at the Passenger Terminal) to ask their questions and share their concerns. The airport is considering protective measures, such as noise barriers and landscaped embankments to reduce noise and visual pollution. With an objective of significant growth, Liege Airport wants to respond to growing logistics needs while dialoguing with residents to limit the impacts of this expansion.
