Indonesia starts using Wi-Fi 7

Indonesian operator Telkomsel and the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) have completed the first validation of Wi-Fi 7 in Indonesia.

This is an important milestone that brings Indonesia into the era of high-speed Internet of up to 10 Gbps.

Wi-Fi 7, the latest generation of Wi-Fi technology, brings many great benefits, including much higher Internet speed, greater user capacity, lower latency and better power savings.

Director of Resource Planning at the SDPPI General Directorate, Kominfo, Denny Setiawan, emphasized that the agency is committed to continuing to introduce the latest technological developments in Indonesia, with the aim of improving the experiences of Internet access for users.

In a statement on June 10, Kominfo highlighted that this cooperation can help accelerate the realization of Indonesia’s Digital Vision 2045.

Telkomsel Vice President of Technology Strategy and Consumer Product Innovation Ronald Limoa said the company’s initiative to integrate the latest technology through Wi-Fi 7 validation is a concrete step , in line with Telkomsel’s vision to become a leader in telecommunications services in the region.

The Indonesian government hopes that sustainable innovations developed across the world can also be applied in Indonesia and benefit from it.

Therefore, frequency management regulations will continue to be updated according to technological developments, in order to promote the progress of the digital ecosystem and the transformation of the Indonesian telecommunications industry, as well as improve the competitiveness of the country.
