The Vaud Grand Council gave the green light on Tuesday to a new energy renovation plan affecting eight public buildings, spread over four sites: Yverdon gymnasium, Epalinges Laboratories Center (CLE), Higher Education School (HEP) and Maison from the Elysée to Lausanne. He unanimously accepted a credit of 64.2 million francs.

The High School of Education (HEP) in Lausanne has been classified among the major energy consumers in the canton of Vaud (archives).

Two HEP buildings, a CLE building and the Maison de l’Elysée are part of the list of 77 priority buildings identified by the Vaud climate plan “because of their insufficient energy performance”, according to the Council of State. HEP and CLE were listed as major energy consumers.

Other renovation projects aim to resolve urgent problems such as leaks, technical installation failures and risks for users. The installation of solar panels supports renovation projects with a view to increasing the State’s electrical autonomy.

Still on the energy level, parliamentarians also unanimously accepted on Tuesday an additional credit of 1.5 million francs for “the optimization of thermal performance and the upgrade of the electrical installation” of the Professional Commercial School from Lausanne (EPCL-Midi). It is added to the credit of 38.5 million granted in 2020 by this same Grand Council.
