Due to major works on several SNCF lines, disruptions are expected this weekend when Monday November 11 is a public holiday.
Users' daily lives will be turned upside down in four days: from Friday November 8 at 11 p.m. until Wednesday November 13 at 4 a.m., it will be impossible to use one of the high-speed TGV lines, which will be closed for work. It will take 4h30 to reach Lyon from Paris, and 7h20 to travel from Paris to Marseille. The TGVs to Montpellier or the Alps will also be disrupted. “We anticipated and reorganized the agendas accordingly. The meetings will all be held by video over these four days”details a woman at Lyon station.
So why such disruptions? SNCF will modernize its entire signaling system on the oldest TGV line. 820 million euros of work is planned, and on trains, travelers will see the difference according to experts. The disruptions will concern TGV Inoui and Ouigo trains, but also those of competitors such as Trenitalia.
