“The damage is significant”: SNCF traffic slows down between Paris and Oise following cut and burned cables

Be careful, if you have to take the train this Tuesday between – Gare du and Compiègne, traffic is significantly slowed down in both directions. It is even completely interrupted between the and Compiègne stations. The cause of these disruptions was cables set on fire around 3 a.m. during the night from Monday to Tuesday. Trains are forced to take an alternative route which extends the journey by around forty minutes.

Another consequence is that the stations between Creil and Compiègne (Villers-Saint-Paul, Rieux-Angicourt, Pont Sainte-Maxence, Chevrières, Longueil-Sainte-Marie) are no longer served. Buses provide service to these stations while waiting for rail traffic to be completely restored.

According to the SNCF, the “damage is significant”. “More than 25 cables were cut and burned,” she explains. At this stage, we estimate that the repair work should be finished during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. Our teams are fully mobilized to repair as quickly as possible and thus ensure tomorrow morning's peak. Traffic will remain severely disrupted until the end of service. » The SNCF strongly advises users “to postpone their trip if possible”.

“For the moment, there is no notion of cable theft,” specifies the gendarmerie. This morning, around 6 a.m., the gendarmes went to the site to establish the first findings. “They observed the opening of several concrete hatches under which the cables circulate,” indicates the gendarmerie. In two places, the tires were burned, seriously damaging the sheaths and the sheath of the cable which supplies the railway signaling. The repercussions are significant and a return to normal is not expected before tomorrow. »

The investigation continues. The Pont-Sainte-Maxence brigade was reinforced by investigators from the Senlis research brigade and criminal identification technicians from who are currently on site to carry out the investigations. Arnaud Dumontier, LR mayor of Pont-Sainte-Maxence judged it “deplorable that an act which there is no doubt is criminal is ruining the lives of people who go to work. I hope that the perpetrators will be identified and convicted. »
