Aapproved last March by the Brussels parliament, the “lease ordinance” comes into force from 1is November in Brussels and involves a whole series of changes whose main objectives are to realize the right to decent and affordable housing, to ensure greater security of tenure for tenants and to fight against illegal evictions.

Many owners and tenants are concerned because, with the exception of what concerns the pre-contractual phase and the conclusion of the contract, the other measures of this reform also apply to leases concluded or renewed before 1is november. Here’s an overview of the main changes.
