For anyone, the death of a loved one is an emotional shock that is difficult to cope with. Despite everything, those close to the deceased have no other choice but to react quickly to prepare the funeral and the various administrative procedures.
To help loved ones move forward despite their distress caused by the loss of someone dear to them, the startup In-memory was created in 2022. After two years of R&D and beta testing, it announces the launch of its mobile application to the general public in France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Concretely, this application allows you to make arrangements before your own disappearance, even if it occurs suddenly. In this context, the solution offers several functionalities to guide the relatives of the deceased, in particular to manage all administrative and legal procedures.
“Reduce the shock felt by each and every one of us in these difficult times”
Thus, the application makes it possible to automatically notify people of their choice of their disappearance (a natural or legal person undertakes to prevent the application of the disappearance of the person), to automatically transmit, after their death, messages and information to people of their choice, or to warn and indicate their post-mortem wishes and wishes, or even their end-of-life directives if this proves necessary. For example, it is possible to prepare post-mortem videos, like the American YouTuber MrBeast who shot around fifteen videos which will only be broadcast after his death. To secure this sensitive data intended for loved ones and various administrative contacts (notary, taxes, banks, insurance, social security, etc.), the company ensures that messages are end-to-end encrypted within the application.
“I unfortunately lost my brother a few years ago and my emotional shock was reinforced by the material shock and the logistics of managing the aftermath”remembers Christophe Marlot, co-founder and CEO of In-memory. Before continuing: “This difficulty is very often encountered by everyone because until now no tool was provided and this management was made extremely complex. This is why I embarked on the creation of this technological tool to reduce the shock felt by each and every one of us in these difficult times. During development, I discovered many difficult-to-manage settings that In-memory now provides a truly simple solution for everyone.”
In-memory follows in the footsteps of other deathtech startups to facilitate the preparation of funerals and the management of post-mortem digital life. Moreover, another young French start-up, with a name very close to that of In-memory, also works to support loved ones in this delicate period. After initially launching an online platform to communicate information about funerals and collect tributes, Inmemori has taken it a step further by offering a complete funeral service from 2020.
