Top: decarbonization underway in SMEs and ETIs

SMEs and mid-sized companies (ETIs) are making progress on decarbonization. 17% of them have invested heavily in this area after having carried out a carbon assessment and built a decarbonization plan, compared to 11% in 2023, according to a survey carried out in six European countries by the consulting firm BCG and the investment fund Argos Wityu. The share of companies that have invested heavily in reducing their emissions, even if they have not carried out a decarbonization plan, has gained five points compared to 2023. Decarbonization is also a way to retain more talent.

Flop: the carbon bill weighs on the CAC 40

A sign that the subject is in the spirit of the times, the financial consulting firm Axylia has imagined a method intended to calculate the carbon bill of CAC 40 companies. Result: almost half of the firms would not have the means to pay their dues, according to the fourth edition of this study. By applying an estimated price of 142 euros per tonne of CO2, TotalEnergies would have to pay a bill of 55 billion euros, Airbus 58 billion, and Stellantis 65 billion.
