Inauguration of a retirement home in Greater Sudbury

The Mayor of Greater Sudbury, Paul Lefebvre, inaugurated a retirement home on Friday, Sudbury Retirement Manor, in the New Sudbury district.

The new seniors housing complex has 137 rooms and the first clients have been living there since the end of February.

It is important to celebrate this action by investors which allows our seniors to live with dignity in a community, without remaining alone. Here they have pride in lifeunderlined Mayor Lefebvre.

The building has six floors. The first five levels house people who benefit from all the services offered, including meals.

The sixth floor, which will open this summer, will receive residents who can cook for themselves, because there are some who do not want to give up cooking when they enter hereexplains the general director of Sudbury Retirement ManorShelly McJannet.

Ms. McJannet says they serve three meals a day, do weekly housekeeping, laundry, and provide gymnastics activities, among other things. Tenants pay up to $3,700 per month, depending on the type of room and services received.

Satisfied with their new home

25 people already live in the retirement home. Their first impressions are pretty good.

The service is excellent. And the building is very clean and it’s very beautiful here, I encourage people to come and stay heresaid Regina Paquette, 88 years old.

Regina Paquette (right in photo) moved to the Sudbury retirement home in February. She says she is satisfied with the life she leads there.

I was alone. My husband died. And then I like being with people, we have a lot of activities here. It’s pleasantconfided Ms. Paquette, who participates in some of the activities she talks about.

I really like walking. Then here, it’s easy to walk, there is a sidewalk, and you can even walk in the courtyard.

The groundbreaking for this retirement home took place in August 2021. The construction work has so far cost the Bawa Living company approximately $35 million.
