ADD and Visa join forces to promote digital innovation in the sector

A collaboration agreement aimed at promoting the fintech ecosystem was signed on Thursday in Rabat by the Digital Development Agency (ADD) and the digital payments specialist, Visa International Service Association.

Initialed by the Director General of the Digital Development Agency (ADD), Mohamed Drissi Melyani, and the Vice-President and Regional Director of Visa for North Africa, the Levant and Pakistan, Leila Serhan, this agreement aims to pool efforts deployed to support initiatives put in place by the State in terms of financial inclusion and digital development.

The objective of this collaboration is to promote the use of digital tools among citizens, public administration and the private sector in order to facilitate access to financial services.

On this occasion, Mr. Drissi Melyani indicated that “this agreement will undoubtedly constitute important support in achieving our objectives of digital development and financial inclusion in Morocco, and that it will contribute to increasing awareness among citizens, businesses and administrations to digitalization, particularly on financial education”.

He also indicated that the two parties agree to promote the fintech ecosystem and to support the deployment of digital solutions in this context.

For her part, Ms. Serhan said she was happy to join forces with an institution as active in the digital field as the ADD to support the efforts made for the development of digital in Morocco, reaffirming Visa’s commitment alongside of the ADD to support Morocco’s dynamics in the digital field and to participate in raising awareness among public and private ecosystems regarding the importance of financial services to be digitized and the promotion of fintech among all actors concerned.

She, at the same time, reiterated her willingness to make this collaboration a promising start in the realization of actions, initiatives and projects of common interest.

The signed agreement is structured around several axes aimed in particular at supporting the fintech ecosystem in Morocco and strengthening the Kingdom’s positioning as a regional hub for digital innovation and fintech, as well as providing financial education resources. with the aim of promoting financial inclusion, in addition to raising awareness of digitalization and the establishment of digital culture.

It is also about contributing to the development of payments and electronic commerce, as crucial levers for the national digital economy, and encouraging innovation in the financial sector by promoting collaboration between financial players, laboratories research and startups, both nationally and regionally.
