Marine Le Pen: “I will be where I need to be, namely at the head of the majority group to support the Prime Minister”, Jordan Bardella
Invited at 7:40 a.m. on RTL, Marine Le Pen reiterated her conviction that the National Rally (RN) would “have an absolute majority” in the National Assembly. The outgoing MP for Pas-de-Calais spoke the day after the presentation of the RN program by Jordan Bardella. Reaffirming that there would be no increase in taxes – their levels being ” intolerable[s] for the French people ” according to her -, Marine Le Pen argued that one of the first measures of her party, if it came to government, would be to reduce “constrained spending” citizens.
Concerning the ban on mobile phones from the start of the school year in middle and high schools – this is already the case in middle schools – it remained vague on the mode of application of this rule, evoking either “lockers”either “small wooden bins” to put the devices there. She then lamented that “school is no longer a sanctuary”pleading for “reestablish authority”.
Regarding immigration and the application of obligations to leave French territory (OQTF), Marine Le Pen affirmed that negotiations would be undertaken with foreign countries so that they “take back their nationals”.
Then evoking the controversy which followed Jordan Bardella’s announcement on Monday to reserve strategic positions for nationals, Marine Le Pen replied that it was only a question of “sensitive strategic positions”. “It’s a handful of jobs, in reality, which means that when you have geopolitical issues with a certain number of countries – and this list must be reviewed on a regular basis – well you put in place a principle precaution »she explained, citing for example the directors of nuclear power plants, and stressing that this would not concern the post of prime minister.
Finally, asked about the fact that she would not be prime minister if the RN acceded to Matignon, the outgoing member for Pas-de-Calais replied: “I will be where I need to be, namely at the head of the majority group to support the Prime Minister (…), support government policy as it will implement it”judging that “we are not fighting for positions, places”.
