Stellantis pauses production of the Fiat Panda

At the start of the year, Stellantis affirmed that the Fiat Panda would be produced at least until 2027. Especially since it remains the best-selling model in Italy, and even one of the leaders in the category in Europe. It is therefore doing very well, with sales increasing by 21%! However, this is not enough to overcome the difficulties encountered by an ever more competitive market and ever higher production costs. In fact, eight months later, no less than three sites will be shut down for a few days, according to initial statements.

Complicated period…

The sites affected are Pomigliano d’Arco, Termoli and Pratola Serra, thus slowing down the production of the Panda engine, the various parts and therefore, also, the assembly of the car. As a reminder, a little earlier in the year, production of the Fiat 500e and Maserati GranTurismo was slowed down, or even stopped, after Stellantis’ decision to slow down their Mirafiori factory. Furthermore, the group’s boss, Carlos Tavares, indicated during the Motor Show that his mandate would end at the beginning of 2026 and that his successor would be known by the end of 2025.
